No.272.
Addressed to Shanghai No.350 of June 23.
During discussions regarding the Cheng inurder case one
fact appears to have been overlooked namely that a Swiss
citizen named Glauser was murdered at the same time.
Would
it not be possible to get the Swiss Government to intervene and
request us either direct or through district Court to hand
over the men for examine tion which I submit we would be able
to do without loss of fece?
2. If it is considered that there is anything in this
idee I would approach the Swiss Consul with whom I have not
yet discussed the matter.
Repeated to Foreign Office No.272 and Tokyo No.183.
